Week 2- Excel

This week in class we learned how to use Microsoft Excel. My past experiences with Excel have all been simple and usually involved making spread sheets containing basic contact information. Therefore, I thought excel was a useless application. After seeing its other functions however, I realized it is an extremely efficient program that I can use to manage financial and statistical information.

As tennisTIME continues to grow, I will have a lot of finances and statistics that will need to be evaluated. The amount of downloads and purchases of my application will need to be documented. With the use of Excel, number crunching will become effortless. Excel will also be useful to create charts/graphs. These charts/graphs could display endless categories such as: profits, sales, customer feedback, etc. Such images would illustrate my company's overall progress in a simple way, showing me what needs improvement and what tactics/areas are successful.

An extremely helpful tool in Excel is the Pivot Table. Pivot Tables will allow me to evaluate and organize great amounts of data. Pivot Tables can quickly summarize any aspect of my company. If tennisTIME gets big Pivot Tables would be the perfect way to keep my company organized.

Week 1- Social Media

My idea for my entrepreneurship project is to make an application for Apple products that would allow users to follow their favorite tennis professionals. Currently, there are websites and applications that allow users to access live scores and matches, however, the tennisTIME application would be a different service. Customers would have to pay a fee to download the application giving them full insight to their favorite players life on and off the court. They would be able to watch live matches, access players bios, history, favorite gear, and many other facts. The crucial difference is that tennisTIME integrates the pro's social life, daily quotes, take on matches, as well as anything else the pro's take part in off the court, providing users with a 360 degree view of their favorite stars.

I could use social media sites, such as Twitter and Facebook to advertise my new product. Since tennisTIME will be following the lives of tennis players, Twitter will play a crucial role when dealing with the players social life off the court. Social media will also play an imperative role when measuring customer opinions. Through the usage of social media, I could use customer feedback to tweak my website and find out what the customers want to hear more and less of. Also, Facebook could be utilized to create a informative page, boosting the popularity of my product amongst the sports world.

Social Media will also play a vital role internally. As tennisTIME gains popularity, I will need to employ more individuals. I will utilize Twitter to post job availabilities and eventually hire avid tennis followers. Though social media I can precisely advertise and mold my product into becoming a huge success.
